Description
The Athonite monastery of Hilandar has an extensive textile treasury, including some of the finest icons and embroideries of the late Byzantine period.
One such piece is the famous Aer (Chalice Veil). A masterpiece of 12th century embroidery, its particularly harmonious decorative border featuring roundels with crosses and stylised floral elements forms the basis of this set of vestments.
The design can be executed in a variety of colours and applications. Combinations of gold and silver delicately outlined in purple or burgundy thread, can further be embellished with the inclusion of pearls, giving a sculptural finish to the work.
On ivory or any other coloured silk, HILANDAR sets for deacon, priest and bishop remain a favourite choice.
HILANDAR is also available with the Athonite or Russian high back yoke.
A range of matching Chalice sets, altar covers, epigonatia and banners are also available and made to order.
